As compassionate providers of services to children and families, we realize that our responsibilities extend beyond our contractual obligation of providing safe and nurturing certified homes. We understand that unless we can effectively provide our children in out-of-home placement with the right types of programs and services they too will end up another national statistic.
Unfortunately, children in foster care come to us with needs that far exceed that which can be addressed through traditional federal funding. Consequently, we must rely on the help and support of the community if we are to provide our children with the programs and services necessary to help ensure their safe emancipation at age 18. By making a financial conrtribution to Family Health & Support Network, Inc., you will be feeding into the life of an at-risk youth.
Every financial contribution to Family Health & Support Network, Inc. serves as evidence of your help and support.

Family Health & Support Network, Inc., is a private non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation, established in 2003 by founding members Sandra Austin, Robbie Peer and Michael Scott. Family Health & Support Network, Inc. (FHSN) is licensed by the State of California (facility number 336413117) to function as a Foster Family Agency. We are governed by the State of California Title 22 Code of Regulations as well as agency policies and procedures.
FHSN currently has contracts with Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange Counties for the placement and administrative oversight to children and youth who have been removed from their homes as victims of abuse and neglect. In order that we may satisfy our contractual agreement we must recruit qualified individuals and couples to serve as certified foster parents with our organization. Most importantly, we seek to become aligned with individuals who share our passion for helping children and youth.
Our Philosophy:
Healthy and somewhat predictable experiences and relationships with others are a fundamental part of healthy development. Naturally, when a child is valued, supported and brought up in a safe and stable environment she is much more likely to thrive and to become a well-adjusted adult. However, there is little chance that a child who grows up without stability and without authentic experiences of being valued and supported (as an important part of a family or team) will actually develop into a healthy or fully functional adult. Consequently, children in foster care, the large majority of whom have been victims of abuse and/or neglect, and who have experienced very little support, belonging and stability, are in extra special need of healthy and supportive relationships.
FHSN believes that the level of support, guidance, and nurturing a child receives in her everyday interactions, is the most important factor affecting her healthy development. We hold that the most fundamental and critical “treatment” for our children in foster care is to embrace them in a structured and predictable environment that is not only rich in its support for them, but which also strongly encourages and demonstrates teamwork, cooperation and meaningful connection. We recognize that unless our children reliably experience that they are valued and important, then they will not be as motivated or available to learn, strive, grow, connect with others, or make the most of the services and or programs we provide them. A big part of our approach to treatment, therefore, involves providing our children and youth with the right type of social environment, programs and opportunities for them to experience healthy and meaningful interactions with staff, foster parents and each other.
Our Purpose
The purpose of FHSN is to help high risk children in foster care (aged 0 – 18) develop into healthy and successful adults. We accomplish this through the provision of safe and supportive certified homes and families; quality programs and services to children (and their birth families where appropriate); professional, well-trained and caring staff; and a community atmosphere that encourages teamwork and cooperation among youth, families, staff and volunteers.
Our Goals:
1.
To attract, develop and maintain quality staff and foster families who have a genuine interest and commitment to our children in foster care;
2.
To provide children who have been detained/removed from their families with a safe and stable family/home environment;
3.
To help our children achieve permanency through reunification, adoption assistance, or through a stable foster home environment;
4.
To help our children develop trust, a sense of belonging, healthy identity, self-esteem, a passion for life, teamwork and social skills, and other qualities that contribute to healthy adulthood;
5.
To help our children strive educationally and vocationally and to generally help them develop skills and practices necessary to succeed as responsible adults; and
6.
To advocate for the needs of children in foster care, and to increase awareness and support for their needs in the surrounding communities.

Our Approach
Family Health & Support Network, Inc. embraces a model of “relationship-oriented foster care". We believe, as the popular African proverb goes, that it really takes a village to appropriately raise a child. Children simply learn and function better when they share positive and meaningful relationships with the people and communities around them.
Therefore our goal at FHSN is not just to provide our children custodial care, but to build and maintain a positive network of caring families, friends, professionals and other community members to function within our network. Our hope is to provide our children in foster care with a stable, healthy and supportive village.
Our Services:
FHSN recruits, trains and certifies individuals and couples as foster parents with our agency, and (under contracts with local counties) we accept and place children into the homes we certify. Specifically, we serve the needs of children (in Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and surrounding counties) who have removed from their homes as victims of abuse and/or neglect.
Currently we provide the following services:
Family Health & Support Network, Inc. does not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or the perception of sexual orientation. Foster parents are evaluated based on their ability to meet the pre-certification requirements. Family Health & Support Network, Inc. serves a diverse population of children and families. We embrace our differences and seek to cultivate respect for all cultures.

Discrimination Policy
Family Health & Support Network, Inc. does not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or the perception of sexual orientation. Foster parents are evaluated based on their ability to meet the pre-certification requirements and all program participants are evaluated based on their ability to meet program requirements. Family Health & Support Network, Inc. serves a multi-cultural, diverse population of children and families. We embrace our differences and seek to cultivate respect for all cultures. We believe that all children deserve to be loved and it takes a village to raise a child.
Responsibilities to Children
Responsibilities to your foster children extend beyond the basic provision of food, clothing and shelter. When you take a child into your home, you become responsible for the physical, emotional, educational and social needs of the child placed in your care. You are responsible for monitoring behavior, providing structure and support and most importantly advocating for the child’s needs.
Children come into contact with the foster care system by no fault of their own. They come to us with very unique and specific needs that require the help and attention of qualified adults who have a genuine passion for helping them and a unique understanding of their individual circumstances. Being removed from your family, however dysfunctional remains a traumatic experience for any child. Therefore our goal as an organization is to recruit and retain individuals and couples who understand the uniqueness of our foster children, the importance of working collectively with our organization and who have the ability to embrace the concept of FAMILY.
Treatment Team Meetings
Children come to us with a great number of needs, all requiring our time, attention and support. FHSN believes that supportive interventions help reduce the number of failed placements as well as the number of moves a child experiences during their stay in foster care. In addition to providing a safe place where the child can openly express his/her concerns and fears with compassionate and caring adults, treatment team meetings serve as an opportunity for us to demonstrate to our children that we CARE and the necessity of working together in search of a resolve.
All children placed with FHSN are afforded the provision of treatment team meeting if desired. The same provision is extended to the foster parent and the social worker assigned to the case. In addition, with the exception of extreme circumstances, a treatment team meeting must take place before a 7 Day Notice can be executed by the parent.
The opportunity for the individuals who care to come together in search of a resolve for the child is resolute to the child’s wellbeing. As caring and compassionate individuals who understand the uniqueness of our children in care, we encourage treatment team meetings when difficulty arises in the placement. We believe that it takes a “village” to raise a child.
FHSN requires our certified foster parent to receive twelve (12) hours of on-going training per calendar year. Our goal is to regularly provide interesting and necessary training to our parents that will assist them in providing quality care and supervision to the children we place in their care. A further goal is to provide training that will ensure the quality of services is aligned with the State of California Title 22 regulations as well as agency policies and procedures.
We encourage our certified parents to seek and obtain additional training in the area of treatment foster care however, in order that we maintain continuity in our service delivery our parents are required to attend the regular on-going trainings provided by FHSN. Parents are required to sign-in at each training session. There signature serves as evidence of their attendance. Training hours and participation is tracked and monitored by our staff. Parents are regularly advised, in writing via training print-out of the status of their training hours. Parents who fail to obtain the required on-going training hours must make-up those hours in order to be re-certified with our organization at their anniversary date.

Our Mission
SOCAL Athletic Academy is focused on developing the athletic and academic skills of student athletes to prepare them for success from the elementary level to the collegiate levels; while teaching them Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Accountability, and Work Ethic
Our Company
The SOCAL Athletic Academy was founded in 2010, by four childhood friends, three of whom are former collegiate and or professional Athletes. Years after their athletic careers ended, these gentlemen still had a strong desire and commitment to be involved in athletics. As a result, they found themselves coaching various High School and youth sports. With several years of experience as athletes and coaches, they decided to combine their efforts to create an organization focused on developing and training student athletes to excel in both academics and athletics. The academy’s main objective is to prepare the student athlete and provide potential opportunities to compete at the collegiate level.

“FHSN’s mission is to help at-risk children aged 0 - 18 to develop into healthy, well- adjusted and successful adults through a licensed Foster Care program. The organization also seeks to help rebuild communities by providing comprehensive community based programming to empower underserved, impoverished communities of the Desert Region.
In order that FHSN can provide the level of programming that can truly affect change in the lives of the children and families we serve, we need the help and support of individuals, companies and corporations who share our compassion for helping others.
Make a financial contribution that will help change lives. All contributions made to FHSN go directly to benefit the children and families we serve.
Teens in Foster Care
Teens as we know can sometimes be complex individuals, especially those who have experienced multiple placements in their very short lives. Yet, the time for which they will be introduced into the world as adults is quickly approaching them. It is both natural and reasonable for a young person to experience a great deal of fear and anxiety during this period and given their unique situations. Consequently, the opportunity to be placed in a safe and supportive home environment is by far the greatest contribution to their success.
At Family Health we recognize that our teens require a greater level of support as their challenges often times exceed those who remain with their natural parents. Therefore, it is our goal to recruit and train quality individuals and couples, who share our compassion for helping our teens safely reach adulthood.
Given the appropriate training and support, foster parents often times learn that caring for a teen is not as challenging as originally thought. Many foster parents gain a greater appreciation and insight into the challenges teenagers face as well as greater reward for helping them through.
If you have the desire and compassion to work with teens we invite you to give us a call today. We will arrange for an orientation which provides you with the information you will need to help you decide if parenting teens is for you.
